Youtube Chants from RLRA
An important component of our Early Elementary and Level 1 programs is our use of rhythmic chanting. All of our chants are available on our youtube channel. They present the vocabulary in a interactive way that is very catchy for the students. (You will hear the students chanting as they leave your classroom!) We have playlists organized on our youtube channel, but we are now providing you with a resource that will allow you to present them to your students ad-free and give you an easy way of finding them in one place.
Click on the links below and bookmark the ones you will be using with your classes.
Here are some fun ways you can use our chants:
to go along with our lessons! They reinforce the language and get everyone practicing at once!
as a brainbreak! If you teach longer classes with young children, this is a great way to break up the lesson and get kids moving a little bit.
as review! Go back and sing a few old chants to refresh the students’ memory. My middle schoolers still love doing the chants once in a while.
to fill a little extra time at the end of class! If you have an extra few minutes, this will keep the kids engaged.
a conversation starter! This is great when it’s a review for the students - do the chant and have a class or partner discussion using the main question. See what other answers they can come up with!
have students use these resources at home! I hesitate to encourage families to send their young children to youtube, but these links will keep them stay focused on learning French or Spanish without the interruption of ads or other suggested videos!
If you have other ways you like to use our chants, please let us know! Have a great school year!
